Let's Talk About Juice

How I feel after too much juice...

Juice. Not just the glass of Tropicana that might adorn your breakfast tray but serious squeezing, pulsing of ANYTHING. The craze that kicked off  across the pond many moons ago is now firmly on our shores and shows no signs of abating. I can barely go on Instagram without someone showing me a picture of the juice they carefully created that very morning. Naturally a while back I decided to up the ante and go on a juice cleanse. I did a five day one from Nosh as I'd a) heard some pretty good things about them and b) when I booked it, they had a special 40% offer otherwise it is a pricey enterprise. Buying a decent juicer plus all the fruit, veg and supplements you might need really adds up..never mind the time.

Unfortunately the last juice detox was whilst I was on my blog hiatus but fear not, I'm embarking on a slightly less hard-core three day detox next Monday and will document it right here. I've also booked another one in the run up to my wedding. This would be the point to say that I'm not doing it for crazy diet reasons. Whilst losing some weight is a side point, if I was simply eating just fruit and vegetables for three days, no-one would bat an eyelid. It's the fact that it's liquidised that seems to be the eyebrow raiser. For me, it'd more about getting my body on the right track after being a bit excessive in my lifestyle choices recently. It was the same with the previous one that I did directly after Christmas and with Summer approaching,  I can't think of a better reason. Wish me luck! x

Lupita for Lancome

If you follow this incredibly talented actress on Instgram, you will have seen the sneak peek of the campaign she gave her fans before it kicks off in September this year.  The new face of the beauty powerhouse captioned it by saying, "The secret I never intended to keep".

The Mexican born, Kenyan actress burst onto the world stage after her stellar performance in 12 Years A Slave. Her comment on her appointment as the brand's ambassador was as follows, "I am truly honoured to join the Maison Lancôme, a brand with such a prestigious history and that I have always loved.  I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman's freedom to be herself."

Go Lupita! I suspect we shall we seeing soooo much more from this lady in the future.

Water, water everywhere!

We have a glorious hot weekend coming up folks and whilst the Pimms and rose tinted vino is beckoning me, this shocking new infographic has definitely made me have a bit of a rethink.  As well as making you grumpy, hungry and sleepy, water can affect skin, hair, nails and even weight as well. Start keeping a litre bottle on your desk and filling it up from the tap, downing a glass before every meal and maybe switching to a herbal tea in the morning.  I'm certain you'll see a difference!

Happy Friday! xx

P.S. The Marant dress arrived and it's perfect - boom!

Morrocan Marant

So now and then I will expand on the drama of the past few months but one of the absolute highlights has been my week of bliss with the Boy in Marrakesh. We've been there many times as some dear friends have a beautiful villa about ten minutes outside of the centre.  I'm also having a "hot hen" party out there in September which I am getting ridiculously excited about. Our trip deserves a post of it's own but it was obviously still in my mind when I perused the Liberty cardholders sale preview at the weekend.

Liberty has to be one of my most favourite shops in London and although I loathe sale shopping (largely because of other crazy people elbowing me in the face) I found the store surprisingly quiet. I had actually completely forgotten about the sale and had popped there to buy a wedding present, a very large Diptyque Figuier candle. Of course, once you're in, you can't help having a look around and my eye was caught by the beautiful Isabel Marant Beverly dress. Actually, I'm fibbing - I've liked this dress for a while, it was just complete fate that I saw it in the flesh. Fate and the Fashion Gods helped again when the lovely Sales Assistant Alex told me there was 40% off. WoopppEEE! Then DISASTER. They only had a Large left. Tried it on of course but even though I like over sized clothes on myself, especially when they're a boxy cut, but this was slightly too tent like. There this story would have ended, I trotted home with my candle and went to wedding at the weekend but I couldn't stop thinking about the dress so this morning, I cracked and rang Liberty. Maybe, just maybe, one would have come back in a smaller size. After several attempts trying to get through, I made it and they only went and had a Medium!! It might still be massive but it's winging it's way to me right now and I will report back. Keep your fingers crossed for me! x

Missing in Action!

Firstly, if I have any regular readers left, I apologise profusely to you all. Sometimes life grabs hold of you, gives you a good shake and you're left wobbling around like jelly. The past six months..almost to the day..since my last post have been manic with some epic highs and lows, as well as major life events, since we last spoke, I've been to Africa, China and the USA.
The big bits of news first - on the first weekend of December I was woken up at a very antisocial time of the morning, flown to Venice and was proposed to - I said yes! Secondly, the Boy and I bought our first place together and (after doing a bit of work and dealing with a NIGHTMARE vendor) we finally moved in and lastly, I moved jobs and am now back in the world of fashion. All of this will be expanded on but for now I just wanted to say hi, it's nice to be back! X
